Well ... The thing that perplexed me most of the plot, was the question of "time travel" of the samurai Yasubei Kijima who is found to go to Edo era ' was Heisei so, apparently without a logical explanation. In fact, you can tell just by watching the film: Kijima-san had expressed a wish to a shrine to be working, as do essentially the equivalent of the samurai life annuity. So Buddha really wants to send a hundred years into the future to make the pastry chef! XD
That so looks like a cabbage, but basically it is a good thing: wanting to be helpful and to be able to "produce" something of their own (like me too, like ... if only I could find a job).
